Who We Are
This is an outreach program for widows, widowers, and the orphans or fatherless children. This is a non profit faith-based ministry. We are dedicated to setting up a link or connection through research, between widows; the widows who are more financially stable to assist (through adopt-a-widow program) those who are less privileged. We will provide information that will help facilitate a relationship between the widows who have more resources than their other counterparts. Those widows who are less dependent on the adopt- a-widow program will in turn assist those who are and their children.
Material donations especially from the United States and other countries to be shipped to Africa for families (Christians and non-Christians) who have lost the major bread winners of the family. Older widows (i.e. those that have been widows for longer years) can assist in the emotional adjustment on newer widows by sharing experiences through letters, e-mails and telephone conversations. We intend to get especially African widows on phone thereby they can communicate with not only their widow counterparts abroad but also with their children or relatives in other parts of the world. American widows are usually lonely especially if all their children have left home. African widows on the other hand may have many of their children still staying home.
With our program as we connect these widows, American widows may decide to visit Africa .With later development any of the African orphan can be adopted by the American widow which our organization can work out together with the adoption agencies in both countries. We still serve as middle men to screen such adoption process. An individual who is not a widow can also help to adopt a widow and family to render such assistance as needed.
In Africa where I grew up I knew of many who were unable to continue their education after the loss of their fathers. The widows got overwhelmed and unable to cope with such enormous demand in the family. Usually there was no life insurance. Due to conflict, even the man’s gratuity from his job or estate, is shared by the man’s relatives leaving the widow to fend for herself and her children (no matter how many or how young). As a result we are committed to Community-Based Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding. Part of our goals is to empowered individuals, communities and institutions as catalysts for justice and social transformation. One of the services to be rendered will be medical services. We shall solicit for medical assistance for widows and orphans who need immunizations, physical examinations or medication. Doctors and nurse practitioners can donate their services or adopt families for free medical care or at subsidized fee. We will also provide scholarships as needed to the children of the widows.
